I fail to understand 'modern' humanity. We ceaselessly ignore things that come easily to us,like love and mutual support for our fellow beings, and try to be sophisticated. We believe we are in a higher plane of existence, living a better life, while all we do is just exploit each other and our habitat. The result?Increasingly, more and more people across the globe experience unrest, physically and mentally.
Less than a century ago,it was perfectly normal or rather, humane, to want to help someone in trouble,to do manual labour, to offer emotional support for an ailing heart, respect for nature - the things that originally established a society of humans in this world - real coexistence. But these seem alien to at least some of us today. To be humane is considered ridiculous, unnecessary.Nature was created to be recklessly plundered by man.And then you conduct experiments and arrive at conclusions - junk food is unhealthy, selfishness breeds bitterness and depression, erosion of values and mental health are connected, metropolitan living adversely affects the body, and whatnot - yes, groundbreaking. We needed scientists poring over microscopes or conducting surveys, to figure out that nothing can substitute for physical labour, that our self-centric thoughts are detrimental to our own mind and that an imitation of sedentary lifestyle can prove fatal. How man has changed.Yes,that's progress, right there.
The air we breathe, the water we drink - basically, the backbone of our life- all polluted beyond recovery. So many species of plant and animal life gone extinct, and some, gravely endangered. Do we even realize the kind of footprints we are leaving behind? There can be no doubt that homo sapiens are going to be wiped out from the face of the Earth in the near future. It is no longer a matter for future generations, and the time for repentance and reversal of harmful deeds is long past. Natural selection pertains that those who adapt better will survive. But what if a species dominates over others to such an extent that they delude themselves into thinking they can survive by themselves?Nature must intervene, and she shall. It is just a matter of time.
