How to start?Well, that is always the problem, isn't it?
Since staring at a screen or looking up to the heavens for a divine intervention is not going to get me anywhere,I might as well share random thoughts.
Let's talk about books.A safe topic for a first post,I think. After all,be warned, books are about the only thing I am going to talk about around here. And then movies.Nature.God.Life.Well,that about sums it up.
Always back to books. There is this quote by American author,Tahereh Mafi ,that I would like to share:"I love walking into a bookstore. It's like all my friends are sitting on shelves, waving their pages at me."So beautifully put.I haven't forgotten her words which I came across about a year ago.I can perfectly relate! And so can all the book lovers out there,I'm sure!
When I walk into a library, bookstore,a book fair or a second sale(or just about anywhere that I spot my friends in print),I become giddy with happiness. There, right in front of you,are so many wonderful tales waiting to be read;to take you to other realms, nestle you in that ethereal space, juggle you around with different emotions and then, bam!Back to reality, the hard part.See,You may or may not have enjoyed the book, but neverthless, every good book teaches you something. You delve into the storyline and then come out, hopefully,as a wholly different person. The same applies to any form of artistic expression, for that matter.Take the time to appreciate and examine another individual's innermost thoughts. It will surely give you something new, something you never thought of before, some trigger that goes off when your eyes peruse that intermingling of colours or words.Art gifts everyone a new perspective on life. So,might as well try it now, guys!

Back to books. My love affair with the written word began with Johanna Spyri's 'Heidi',which is still a story close to my heart.A gem of a book to begin a lifelong friendship with so many others out there! There began my crazy search for more. Was there new book store opening up nearby?I'm coming! An international book fair?Woohoo, sign me up!
As the years wore,my parents came to dread the moment when I would spot a stack of paperbacks anywhere we went, because,if I did,I wouldn't rest till I had leafed through them and bought atleast one.Sometimes, even the content wouldn't matter,an attractive cover would get me hooked.Libraries can always be relied upon to open doors into a bigger and better world, where you find the best of characters to befriend for life.A library with tons of books which keeps increasing?Yeah,I think I found the love of my life!
Anyway, from Heidi ,I moved onto Enid Blyton,Lewis Carroll,Anna Sewell,Carolyn Keene,Franklin W.Dixon,J.K.Rowling, and so on and so forth.Detective fiction was the rage in my growing up years. When I found there was more intense stuff than Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys,I excitedly moved on to the likes of Arthur Conan  Doyle,Agatha Christie and finally,Robert Galbraith a.k.a J.K.Rowling.So much to be explored in just one genre!
Almost on a daily basis,I find new books, new authors and new writing forums popping up.The growth of literature is so overwhelming that sometimes I wonder if one lifetime will suffice to read all the books in the world.Probably not.The only hope for booklovers is to dedicate every available window of time to reading and thereby savour as many stories as possible. On that positive thought,I draw the curtains on my first post.Hope you like it.
